Ian Price will compete for one of about 7,500 National Merit Scholarships next spring, worth about $33 million. As a member of the TAPPS team, Price took first place twice, and first in calculator and advanced math, all at the state level. He was also in Boy Scouts and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. For his Eagle Scout project, he built two outdoor classrooms at Eastman Chemical Co.

It has forced me to take responsibility for my schooling.
What are your plans after graduation?
Hopefully attending NYU or Georgetown and majoring in math.

Students are given the freedom to explore their own ideas and interests.
What is one memory of your experience at TST that you will always remember?
All the trips. Especially Washington D.C.
Who is one teacher that has made the greatest impact on you?
Mrs. Hewitt. Not only did she teach me a lot about math, but she also encouraged my interest in math.
How has TST prepared you for graduation?
It has given me a solid foundation of knowledge and taught me responsibility.
What are your plans for life after TST?
I’ll just see how college goes.
