College Placement

  • The Director of College Advising provides a comprehensive plan, beginning in eighth grade for Trinity School of Texas students.  He is responsible for coordination of all testing, including PSAT and AP test, oversight of student’s progress in research and application to colleges, and provision of answers to many questions related to the college admission process including seeking merit scholarships and financial aid.

The Trinity School of Texas College Placement program is a learning process for our Upper School students.  When they begin the college application process in their junior year they will have an abundance of knowledge and confidence, which will make the college application process a smooth and successful endeavor.

The Trinity School of Texas participates each year as a sponsoring school in the College Preview, along with independent schools located in Dallas, Texas. This event takes place in September at Episcopal School of Dallas, Hockaday, Greenhill, or St. Mark’s Schools.  Students may attend this college preview, as well as the Globe Scholar College Night hosted by Maude Cobb Convention Center in Longview, Texas.

Students in grade eleven participate in a one-semester course entitled “Junior Seminar”.  This course is an extensive investigation of the college application process including SAT/ACT test preparation, resume building, essay writing strategies, and much more. The goal of the junior seminar course at Trinity School of Texas goal is to ensure that every student and his/her parents are fully informed and prepared when the time comes for them to go through the college application process.

Seniors and juniors have the opportunity to schedule college visits during the semester with the cooperation of our faculty so that our students miss no instruction.  The junior class will also go on two multi-college visits. We take the first trip in the fall, and the second college trip is scheduled as a spring trip. These trips are arranged by the Director of College Advising taking into account students’ college interest.  Throughout the year, Trinity School of Texas hosts representatives from a variety of colleges to meet with the students to discuss and answer questions about their university.

  • Confident and capable.  Poised and articulate.  Respectful and joyful.   These are just a few of the words that have been used to describe students and graduates of the Trinity School of Texas in Longview.  Our graduates have been consistently recognized for their strong academic preparation and achievement, as well as their study skills, interest in learning, and personal integrity.  The most public validation of the excellence of a TST education is the very high rate of acceptance of our seniors into competitive, challenging colleges and universities across the nation.  Following graduation from Trinity, many of our students go on to receive higher education honors and awards, take on leadership positions, and continue to excel in the classroom, on the stage, and in athletics.  Our feedback from these colleges and universities indicates that Trinity students arrive very well prepared.
